Terms of service

This site is operated by Marchetti & Vale. All correspondence should be sent through the contact form; we reply within two working days.

Placing an order is an offer to buy. The contract is formed when we send you an order confirmation. We may decline an order — for example where a piece is unavailable, where a price has been listed in error, or where we suspect fraud — and will refund any sum already taken.

Prices are shown in your chosen currency — euros or US dollars — and may be converted at checkout by our payment provider, whose rate applies. Payment is taken in full at the time of order.

Customs duties, import taxes and, for clients in the United States, any applicable state or local sales or use tax are the responsibility of the recipient unless they are shown as collected at checkout.

Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Full details are set out in shipping.

If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to withdraw from your purchase within fourteen days of receipt, without giving a reason. Nothing in these terms limits that right.

We extend the same fourteen-day window to clients in the United States and everywhere else we ship, as a matter of house policy rather than obligation.

Our own returns and exchange conditions, including the state in which pieces must come back to us, are set out in returns & exchanges.

Every piece is supplied as described. Colour on screen varies with your display; measurements are taken flat and may differ slightly between pieces. Natural fibres will settle and soften with wear, which is not a fault. Care instructions on the label should be followed.

You agree not to misuse the site — no attempt to gain unauthorised access, no automated scraping, no interference with its operation, and no fraudulent orders.

The name Marchetti & Vale, the site's text, photography, journal articles and design are the property of the house and may not be reproduced commercially without written permission.

Nothing here excludes liability for death, personal injury or fraud, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including your statutory rights as a consumer. Beyond that, our liability in relation to any order is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

These terms are governed by Belgian law, and the courts of Belgium have jurisdiction. Consumers keep the protection of the mandatory laws of their country of residence: clients in the European Union may use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform, and clients in the United States keep every right granted to them by the consumer protection laws of their home state, none of which these terms limit.

We may amend these terms. The version published at the moment you place your order is the one that applies to it.
